Church to Hold Paint the Parish Contest

NANTICOKE — The idea just came to the Rev. David Herr, out of the blue, as they say.

Or it could have been divine intervention.

Exhibition Benefits Louisville Visual Arts Association

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -

The Louisville Visual Art Association (LVAA) in partnership with University of  Louisville Hite Art Institute brings DINNER (re)WORKS 2012 to the table yet again; an ambitious exhibition and sale that benefits the LVAA’s programs. One of the largest fundraisers for the nonprofit organization, it is designed to spotlight the quality and diversity of contemporary ceramics by 16 nationally renowned artists throughout North America; three of which are from Kentucky. The range of events that surround this 5 week exhibition reaches out to every corner in the community, from a lunch and lecture with the curator Fong Choo, a cocktail soiree, demonstrations by Master Florist Matthew Robbins from NYC and closes with a beer tasting festival.
The exhibition will be held at the University of Louisville’s Cressman Center at 100 East Main Street from June 1 – July 7 2012 and is free to the public during Cressman Center’s regular hours. Gracing the walls of this much anticipated exhibition will also include photography by internationally known Louisville photographer Julius Friedman; who is producing new work for the exhibition and sale.
DINNER(re)WORKS provides a venue for the top regional and international artists to foster dialog between collectors and makers of ceramic sculpture. From Brown Forman to Crescent Hill Radio, big and small organizations and companies lined up to sponsor the exhibit and surrounding events. The LVAA is a nonprofit who is committed to filling the gaps in the community by providing the Children’s Fine Art Classes (CFAC) to over 800 children in KY and Southern IN as well as their program Open Doors that provides art experiences for underserved communities.
